While we’ve operated as a franchise of Fiducial for many years, our agreement is coming to an end this year. Thankfully, the only changes will be the name on the sign and the website address. Now H&E Tax Services, we’ll continue to serve individuals and small businesses with their tax and business needs.
What does H&E stand for, you ask? H&E Tax Services is a family business, Karl Herba EA, Founder, and daughter Kim Ellithorpe EA, Business Manager, continue to serve clients who in many cases are also like family. We’re grateful for your patronage and look forward to you making this transition with us.

Having served clients for nearly 50 years, Karl’s expertise in business counseling and taxation is extensive and invaluable. While his client base has been quite diverse over the years, working with many types of businesses, he’s often been referred to as a local expert in the gasoline and automotive repair industries, having helped countless station operators across NYS. Karl’s also the “go-to” guy, for clients and colleagues, if you’ve got a question about NYS Sales Tax. Passionate about education, Karl’s been a very active member of the NY Chapter of the NATP -National Association of Tax Professionals for more than 25 years, teaching and serving on the Board of Directors in various positions. He’s enjoyed a career of helping small business owners thrive and had the satisfaction of building a robust tax preparation practice. Karl continues to service his legacy clients and provides quality control over the work going on in the office, and while you won’t find him in the office often, he comes and goes quickly since his daughter Kim has joined him and runs the day-to-day operations, know that his knowledge and experience are never far away.

A native of Syracuse, after graduating from college, Kim moved to Atlanta, GA where she spent seventeen years working in operations for Hilton Hotels. Specializing in finance and human resources, she has expertise in financial management, business analysis, payroll and benefits administration, and personnel management. After spending five years as Director of Operations for a non-profit organization in Atlanta, she decided to move her family back to the Syracuse area and join her father Karl in business. “It was always our goal to come home to Syracuse. Having earned my “chops” so to speak in corporate America, Dad and I agreed it was the right time for us to work together.” says Kim. She adds, “I think our unique combination of experience and our desire to help others be successful makes us a great team."
